Sinus Problems

Sinusitis, facial pressure, congestion and recurring symptoms.

What is it?

Sinus problems occur when the sinuses — the air spaces around the nose — become inflamed or blocked, often causing pressure and congestion.

Common symptoms

Facial pressure or pain, a blocked or runny nose, reduced sense of smell, and symptoms that linger or keep returning.

Possible causes

Common causes include viral infections, allergies, bacterial inflammation, or structural factors.

When to see an ENT specialist

If symptoms last beyond 10–14 days, keep returning, or are accompanied by severe pain or swelling.

How it is assessed

An assessment includes a discussion of your symptoms and a careful examination of the nose and sinuses.

Treatment options

Treatment may include nasal sprays, medication, or addressing underlying allergies. Sinus problems shouldn't have to become part of your routine.

When surgery may be considered

Surgery is considered only when symptoms persist despite medical treatment and a clear cause is identified.
